Jake's Birthday Card & Broken Arm...

Evening all, I just wanted to do two quick things this evening 1. post this card I made for my youngest son Jake's birthday yesterday and 2. update you all on the broken arm as I have had several emails about it.
For the card I decided that as his only two passions in life are the army and rugby I would make him a rugby related card as he had an army one last year but that was actually harder than I first thought because I was thinking a rugby ball easy it's oval oh no it's not it tapers off at the edges and trying to get that just so was no picnic. Here is the result...

As for the arm well the cast came off last Thursday and yes it really is 'deformed' as the doctor called it. After having the cast removed we waited to see the doctor only for it to be a different doctor and him to have a 2 second glance at it and so OK off you go. Well my husband, myself and Jake were all in shock, Jake was their with his bag packed to stay in and have it redone as the original doctor had agreed and this doctor said oh no we can't correct it now it's too late. After several minutes of raised voices the doctor called for the original doctor who although agreed that that was what he had said was not prepared to operate and told us to bring him back in 3 YEARS once he has stopped growing. Now maybe that would be OK for many people (well I guess only a very few lol) but when you have a child that wants to go away to army college at 16 that is a big problem as they will not accept them if they have ANY underlying medical problems. The doctor has now agreed to operate in 6 months once Jake has built the muscle back up and he can evalute how much or how little use he has of it, at the moment the wrist does not move backwards and only moves slightly forwards which is a big problem when it's your writing hand. I have told Jake that if after a month or so of exercise he still cannot move it I will be calling the hospital and asking for an earlier appointment as I will not have him left as I was until it really was too late to do any good.

Crafty Sentiments Presents......

Today, see's the release of the first three character stamps over at Crafty Sentiments and so it has been decided to have a blog hop so that we can show you just how you can use these stamps together with the sentiment sets that are already available to purchase. Although my creations are Christmas themed Crafty Sentiments also have some really lovely stamp sets for other occasions.

The blog hop starts now and will run until Wednesday 18th November 2009 at 8pm GMT to give everybody a chance to join in the fun and whilst you are visiting all the blogs be sure to leave a comment on each of them you visit as hidden in one of the blogs will be some candy.

So without further ado here is what I made. I started out making the gift box and it kind of esculated to a Christmas Day themed set. I hope you like what I have made and enjoy the blog hop, I for one can't wait to see what the other design team members have created plus we have a special guest designer joining us.

I masked the characters so that I could use all three on this easel card.

To make this set I have used the sentiments and snwflakes from three different sets which I will list below
Card - Snowflake 'Let It Snow' & Sentiment 'Christmas Sparkles'
Cracker - Snwflake & Sentiment 'A Christmas Wish'
Treat Favour - Snowflake 'Christmas Sparkles' & Sentiment 'A Christmas Wish'
Gift Box - Snowflake 'Christmas Sparkles' & Sentiment 'Let It Snow'
The characters used are from left to right as on my card 'Lulu', 'Yasmin' & 'Daisy'.

Some close up photo's so you can see the sentiments clearly, you can also click on the photo's for a better view.

This is a circular blog hop and there is candy somewhere along the way. You may start on the blog you are on and just continue by clicking on the next name on the blog. The end of the blog hop is when you land back on the blog you started on. You don’t have to hunt for the blog candy! We want you to enjoy the hop so to be eligible for the blog candy you MUST do 2 things.
1) You MUST be a follower of the Crafty Sentiments Blog and
2) You MUST leave a comment on every blog (6 comments total).

The next blog on the hop is: LISA
Now off you go and have fun.

Here is a card I made yesterday after seeing a plea on Crafty C's Crafting Library blog, Claire posted this message

As most will know, for the last 2 years I have asked if some of you could send a card for him to open and the response has been overwhelming. He recieving nearly 100 last year. I think he enjoys this more than the presents. Love watching his face light up. He started a boarding school for Autistic Children in Sept and although he misses home, is slowly settling in and we do get him back every weekend. So if you could help, I'd truly appreciate it.'

and as before I had my accident I used to teach special needs children how could I not oblige.
