The Sugar Bowl & Create 4 Fun Challenges Plus A Wedding Card

Good evening all. I finally had chance to play yesterday and decided to join in with a couple of challenges. The first challenge is The Sugar Bowl where they have a great sketch and the added option of the colour 'Blue', now I don't normally do blue but thought this really made it a challenge for me so here it is. The other challenge is the Create 4 Fun challenge where this week there isn't a sketch but a theme of 'Flowers' which I think I have covered with this card.

For my 6" square card I used some Laura Ashley 'Traditional' backing paper along with cordinations cardstock. The stamped image is my all time favourite 'Daisy' from Sugar Nellie coloured Promarkers. I have cut the image mat and the mats and layer cuts on my Cricut using SCAL2 using the nestie style shapes designed by Penny Duncan Creations and then embossed the mat layer using the technique shown on her blog. I added prima flowers as well as some small flower shaped gems. The sentiment is from Crafty Sentiments

Whilst your here I thought I would show you a wedding card I made for a friend who got married a couple of weeks ago and now she is home from honeymoon and seen the card I can let it loose lol. I also made all the cards for the bridesmaids too but I forgot to take photo's of them.

A close up of the front

The box

The card is a 6" square easel card made using Dovercraft 'Tradional Wedding' backing paper with bazzill cardstock. The stamped image is another from Sugar Nellie called 'Happily Ever After' coloured with Promarkers. I made the corner flower from a flower cut on my cricut from the 'Accent Essentials' cartridge and the butterflies were cut using SCAL2. I used the Cuttlebug 'Heart Blocks' embossing folder and added butterfly ribbon to that. All the mats and layers were cut and embossed as before using Penny Duncan Creations files. I made the box myself using SCAL2 and cut it on my cricut and then made a band of the flower ribbon and attached the name plate to that. I added a shop brought flower to the corner.

Lastly before I go I jsut wanted to head you in the direction of some lovely Blog Candy. Suzette the owner of Crafty Sentiments has some yummy candy on offer until 11th August, hop on over to her blog Craft Enthusiast and have a look for yourselves.

Thanks for stopping by and hopefully normal service will now resume lol.

For my card today which shows another of the beautiful image's from Cheryl Alger I decided to make a personal card for the bride on her special day rather than a wedding card. This is one of those image's that could be used in several ways but this is what sprung to mind when I first saw it. I cut my image and sentiment mat & layers on my circut using SCAL2 from an svg file I got from Penny Duncan Creations. I then embossed the image surround with my cuttlebug, do you like how it turned out it could quite easily be mistaken for spellbinders nestabilites but this way is far far cheaper, pop over to Penny's site if you want to know how to do it. I coloured my image with Promarkers but tried to give the image a sort of watercoloured look but not sure it worked too well. I decided to add this little charm which says 'A new blessing' to the lace as I think it works for this occasion just as well as for a new baby. The flower is from prima and the sentiment is a new one from Crafty Sentiments.

As soon as I saw this super cute image by designer Cheryl Alger I thought of the anchor on a large ship and the captain shouting 'Ahoy there' so just had to use those things. The anchor itself was an svg I got from Aymee over at A Southernbelle's SVG's which I resized, I then added the chain effect links which I made in SCAL2 out of seperate rectangles, to give a little more effect to my card. The words Ahoy and birthday boy were cut using SCAL2 also with the font 'Hobo BT'. All the pieces were shadowed and raised on foam pads. I coloured my little 'Sailor Boy' with Promarkers and then mounted the top of him with foam pads and the bottom stuck down flat to give definition.

Crafty Calendar Challenges DT Project.

Hello all, Is mr blogger still doing a fine job for me whilst I am away in respite? I do hope he is otherwise it will be a bit boring aorund here at the moment.
Today being the first Friday of the month see's a new challenge over Crafty Calendar Challenges and this month our theme is 'Summer Holidays' with the added option of 'Yellow', so what can you think of based on the summer holidays??
Because I made my fun in the sun card for the May challenge I didn't want to go down that route again and was a little stumped as for what I was going to do until my god daughter came to visit.
I didn't make a card but decided to upload this layout. I have never attempted a layout before but whilst my god daughter who is only 4 was here yesterday, my youngest son took her over to the beach (which is literally across the road to us) and she made her very first sandcastle. My son had taken a photo of her with it and so when she later wanted to play with my shapes, it is a (ritual now when she is here for me to cut shapes on the cricut and she stick's them down to take a picture home for mum or dad) we cut out all these 'beach themed' shapes for her to make a picture with and this is what we made together for her to take home to mummy. I thought it was apt for the challenge so here it is lol!! I added the 'summer fun' and 'photo mat' afterwards. I also printed her photo and added that to it but left that off this picture because she is not my child.

This is how my kids used to love spending the summer holidays but I guess when it is nearer than the local park they would lol.

Here are a few close up pictures with the cutting details.
All elements were cut from the Cricut 'Everyday Paper Dolls' Cart.

The sun was cut at 3" and the face was drawn on with a Cricut marker from one of the everyday people faces.

The font was cut at 1.5" using Mister Sirloin BTN Well font from Sure Cuts Alot 2
The kite was cut at 5" and was cut 5 times in order to get the different colours because there are no layers on this cart.
The deckchair was cut 4.75" and was cut three time to get the frame and the strips in the right order. The camera and sun glasses were cut at 1". The blue section which is supposed to be the 'wave' cut but doesn't look like waves to me lol was cut at 11.5"
The sandcastle was cut at 4" and the bucket and spade were both cut at 2".

Supplies:-
Cardstock - Cored'inations & Bazzill
Machine - Cricut Expression
Cartridge - Cricut Everyday Paper Dolls Cart
Pen - Cricut Brown Marker
