Summer Fun Birthday Card

Good afternoon everyone, how are you all today? The weather seems to have cheered up again so I hope you are all out enjoying it. As for me I am stuck indoors, doped up on pain medication and trying to ignore the agony that is going on in my back again.

I have a card to share with you today that I made at the weekend using another of my new Elisabeth Bell stamps, this one is called 'Big Splash'. I did something with this that I never do and that is I coloured the image before choosing any papers or embellishments. I love how it came out using these primary colours.

Sparkles Monthly 'Up, Up And Away' Challenge

Good morning all, what happened to the weather? we had such a lovely day yesterday taking Harley to a parrot sanctuary and small animal zoo in glorious sunshine and today it is yuck as Harley would say with really heavy rain bursts.

Anyhow today see's the start of a new challenge over at Sparkles Monthly and this month we are challenged to 'Up, Up & Away' so we want to see balloons either the party popping type or as I used hot air balloons. As soon as I saw this challenge I knew this was the card I was going to make. The reason for it is because when I did a craft fayre a few weeks ago I was asked for a Bon Voyage card which I didn't have and the lady quoted 'I would prefer a hot air balloon as these always appeal to my friend to be the perfect way to set off for unknown territory' and I have to agree that kind of appealed to me too, not that you would get me into one mind you lol.

We have a great sponsor this month in Crafty Ribbons who are offering the prize below.

Ok so this was the easiest card to make and the whole thing was created on my cameo using the print and cut feature with a filled pattern.  The sky background is a patterned paper named clouds5 that came preloaded on the silhouette software and I just created a 5.5" box to place it in. I then added the balloons and clouds from the Hot Air Balloons file from Miss Kate Cuttables, printed this as one layer then just cut out around the square edge. Next I printed and again cut the balloons and clouds so that I could pop them up at different levels trying to make the balloons and clouds look like they were at different heights and distances. The sentiment was just typed by myself and then offset before cutting around. I inked all the elements and that is all there was to it. Super quick and easy to make but I quite like the effect.

One Shoe, One Card!

Good evening all, not very often I find myself with an evening post but wanted to get this done before I start on my dt work tomorrow.

Having had a very busy few weeks I was determined not to do anything over the weekend and have time to just play with my craft stuff. I made two different items and neither of them for anything in particular other than my pleasure lol.

The first was this shoe that I made, some of you may of seen it on Facebook already. It was a free file from SVG Cuts that they gave away and if you made something with it and uploaded it to their page then you get a gift card worth $6.99 which is enough to buy another set of files. I really want the gorgeous bag's set they released a couple of months ago so thought why not make it, enjoy it and get what I want for free!

The base of the shoe is quite fiddly to make but once that part is done the rest went together really quickly and all the embellishments were from my stash apart from the 3d rose on the front which was a Lori Whitlock file.

I am really pleased with how this turned out and think it would make a lovely gift for someone, it is even big enough to put something inside of it. It measures 12cm tall, 18.5cm long & 4cm wide.

Here is the shoe from the side

Here it is slightly turned so that you can see the front and inside detail better.

Feather, Brad, Ribbon & Red Bling - Stash

Ok onto my second item which is a card I have made for the Elphine House Challenge. Most of my followers will know how much I love all of Elisabeth Bell's images but quite often when I saw challenge's I couldn't enter as I didn't have a suitable image for the challenge (in my mind). Well, over the last month I have received 18 new stamps as well as the new Simpler Times cd which is packed with images, papers and other goodies. So no excuses now, BUT when I saw this fortnights challenge I nearly chickened out lol. It is my worst nightmare 'Distressing'.

I set to work with my new distressing tool I brought at the Doncaster show and that was still in the packaging along with my distress inks and panpastels. I used this lovely image called Bobby's Day from Sweetpea Stamps because in my mind distressing only works on male images lol. I coloured it with Promarkers and Flexmarkers, then masked it while I added some sky, mountains and greenery. I then distressed all layers before inking with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. The end result I LOVED IT.

Supplies:-
6" Square Card Blank - Natalie & Amy's
Card Stock - Bazzill

My Time To Craft 'Aperture' Challenge

Good morning all, I hope you are all well and those that aren't I hope you will be soon. We had a lovely day yesterday celebrating my step dad's and grandson's birthdays. The weather was lovely and we were able to have a bbq.

Anyhow onto today and it is the start of a new challenge over at My Time To Craft and this fortnight we are challenging you to 'Aperture's'. I haven't made an aperture card in ages but actually really enjoyed making this one. I made this card for a little girl who loves to play with her doll's and dresses them all up to have tea party's, so this image was perfect for her. It is called Evania Nursing Boo Boo and is by none other than Elisabeth Bell through the Elphine House store. I used some odd papers from the Papermania Spots & Stripes Pastels Pad and instead of going for my natural choice of pink to make it all girlie I decided to go with pale purples. I meant to add glamour dust to her wings but forgot before I took the photo but I have now added it.

I used a new card stock to stamp onto today which I brought at the Doncaster show I think, Shell Shearer is that right?? I know we brought one each and got them cheaper lol but where was we??? It is Anna Maria Designs and it is lovely to colour on but it doesn't go through my printer so no good for my digi images. I haven't sat and took time to colour in detail with shading in a while and thought I would struggle especially with my fingers still having pins and needles in them but this card stock made it much easier.

Here is the front through the aperture

This is the image in full as it is placed on the inside of the card

Good morning all, as it is the 8th of the month that means it is time for me to share my Silhouette project for you all but before I do that I want to share something else and that is this little bit of family history. You see today is a very important day as we wish
Happy Birthday to my grandson Harley who is 1 today,
My step dad who is 79 today,
My brother in law who is 47 today &
David's uncle who would have been 64 today had he not passed away a couple of days prior to his birthday last year.
Do you see the connection apart from my step dad of course! Each generation is born on the birthday of their uncle, how many times does that happen?

Anyhow enough waffling and back to my project which is of course a large 8" shaped card for Harley who is mad about ducks, yes I know this looks like a chick but it is supposed to be a duck according to the Silhouette Store. I mirrored the image left, then welded it together to make the shape, then typed the birthday and welded that not only to itself (each letter) but to the shaped card too. I then made an offset layer to give me the edge around the image. I cut another layer of both the duck and the wording and placed the duck on action wobbles so it sort of jiggles around along with the googly eyes.

Supplies:-
Card Stock - Lidl
Die Cut - Baby Ducks #39698 by Patty Young
Beak Shine - Ranger Glossy Accents
Googling Eyes - Stash

Not many supplies today.

Thanks for stopping by, I am off to party with the kiddies oh and my dad lol.
See you all soon.

Kristin @ Paper Creations by Kristin
Barbara @ Craft Me This

By now you will have seen two fantastic projects so what can I add! I decided to make a card and matching gift bag. I used a set called Butterfly Bag & Card found HERE. This was a super easy to make and something that you could put together as a last minute set. For the base's I used some card stock which I purchased really cheaply from Lidl and wow is it fantastic card to use with the Silhouette, I wouldn't have believed it until I tried it. The pattern paper is from a really old 2008 DCWV Spring Stack!. I cut the butterflies and then added some patterns to them with various flourish stamps.
I cut the bag and card as it was laid out on the cutting mat and the bag is a really nice size at about 8" tall, 4" wide and 2" deep, the card is a standard 5.5" x 4.25".

Here is the set

The card

The bag
