Sketch Saturday, Winter Wonderland & Creative Card Crew Challenges.

Well unlike some who have already made all their Christmas cards I am still ploughing through mine so what better way than to use a sketch and fit them into a challenge or two. This card fits nicely into Winter Wonderland Challenge where the theme this week is 'Open Theme' so anything you like, I have used the 'Sketch' from Sketch Saturday Challenge and lastly it loosely fits into the Creative Card Crew Challenge of 'Snowflakes'.
I decided that with this sketch having the scalloped edge I would do something a little different and cut my own edge along the line of decorations on the designer paper and now having done it am not sure if I like it lol.
The sentiment used is another new one I received today and now available from Suzette over at Crafty Sentiments.

Supplies:-
6" Square Card Blank - Craft Superstore

Cardstock - Paper Mill Shop

Here is a card that I was asked to make these particular colours and sentiment was chosen by the person who requested the card. It is an anniversary card for an elderly couple and the man who requested the card wanted a cat on it because over the years his wife has always said that he looks like 'the cat that got the cream' and he said on the day he married some 36 years ago he was that said cat. I thought this was really lovely.
Anyhow for the card incorporated many challenges listed as follows in no particular order:-
One Stop Crafts - Celebrations (which I rotated)

Create 4 Fun, Die Cut Dreams & La La Land Challenges.

Oh what a week it has been. I have had my mum staying for a few days and that means we spend alot of time out and about which is great for me as it is something I don't get to do very often anymore as I cannot get around in my wheelchair without someone to push me. Oh what joy it will bring when the hospital finally agree to an electric chair but then again the poor people of Lowestoft had better all stay home lol.

Secondly I took my son Jake back to the hospital yesterday and the doctor was not happy with how the arm is healing. As there were two breaks it has made it hard to keep them both in the right position to heal. The doctor said he could operate again that afternoon to break the arm and reset it but he could give no guarentee that the arm will not be deformed. Now saying that in front of a 15 year old who is at a stage where looks matter *bless him* was not good, he is now thinking his arm will be on backwards!!! if you know what I mean.  As the doctor had not convinced me and I was not going to agree to a third operation until I had spoken to my husband so we left the hospital and were told to call them when ready. Also my mum who came to the hospital with me was appalled at what the doctor had said and was ready to have ago so it really was time to take our leave. Having discussed it with my husband and Jake we have decided to wait until the cast comes off in three weeks time to see what the arm looks like and whether he can use it properly or not as this is his writing hand. If the arm is not as anyone would expect it to be we will agree to them operating on that day. The doctor has said it will not make any difference leaving it until then, so watch this space.......

At last a card! I started this card last Saturday at a crop and it has taken this long to finish, the challenge I originally started it for had changed theme. So I have used the sketch from Create 4 Fun Challenge and it fits nicely into the theme of 'Winter Wonderland' over at Die Cut Dreams Challenge and La La Lands Challenge theme of 'Sparkle'. The sentiment I used is a new one from the 'A Christmas Wish' set available from 'Crafty Sentiments' plus if you pop on over to the blog Suzette is having a blog candy to win a set of sentiment stamps but be quick it ends on the 31st October 2009.

Sketch Saturday & Stampavie And More Challenges

Firstly, thank you so much to you all for the well wishes sent for my son. He is now home from hospital and recovering well, although I am not quite sure what happened during the operations as he wanted to go straight back to school lol. I have to admit he is a good boy and does love school but is not so impressed with the school work of Romeo & Juliet he has been set whilst trying to type one handed with his opposite writing hand. I call this payback for all the hours of sitting around in the hospital whilst he was either high as a kite from the morphine or out of it from the operations lol.

Anyhow, onto my card that I have made for the Sketch Saturday Challenge using their 'Sketch' and the Stampavie & More Challenge where the theme is 'Christmas'. I have rotated the sketch and have just realised now that it is all uploaded that I have placed the sentiment in the wrong place oops.

Broken Arm Operation Update.

Just a quick update. Jake had to have surgery twice today as the breaks were far worse than first thought but he has recovered well especially as they didn't want to do the first operation due to his history of epilepsy. He should be home tomorrow sometime but will have to go back in again at some point for further treatment.
Thank you for all your kind words and comments.

Just a quick note to let you know that I may not be around much this week, my youngest son had an accident at school whilst playing rugby and was admitted to hospital having broken his arm in 2 places. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning but until they open him up they are not sure whether he will require further surgery later this week.
